In their collaborative work BIOMASS, Kühn and Taffner imagine a speculative future shaped by the effects of global warming, where questions of archiving and crossbreeding plants intersect with advancing technologisation and digitalisation. Heat-loving and drought-resistant plants were captured through photogrammetry, digitally hybridised, and subsequently animated. The fragmented aesthetics of the 3D scans recall archaeological artefacts, evoking associations with bones and fossils. Through sculptural animations, a stage drenched in yellow light, and resonant drone sounds, the work unfolds as a surreal, dystopian landscape.
